The Night Festivals
Since 1987, the château of Grignan has been livened up each summer by the Night Festivals. A successful encounter between first productions and a major heritage centre of the Drôme Department, the Festivals have year after year become a great moment of popular theatre on a national scale.
At the beginning, sketches mixing music, dance and drama were played by both professionals and amateurs including some of the village inhabitants. They used to take place both inside and out, sometimes using some unknown nooks and crannies of the château...
Nowadays, it is the famous renaissance façade of the château which serves as backdrop to the first drama productions entrusted each year to a new director. For the thirtieth edition of the Night Festivals, special events celebrating this landmark anniversary will be put on alongside the 44 performances of the play.
